Topanga Disco Cowboy
Friends Of is the solo project of Topanga Canyon native Zeke Reed, made possible by the eclectic musicians, filmmakers, and artists who make up the Friends Of Universe.
A classically-trained cellist, Zeke started making his own music while studying neuroscience and philosophy at the University of Virginia. His sound is as eclectic as his collaborators, but the vibe is disco cowboy. Zeke blends his love of the western wear and vintage Americana with pure dance floor euphoria. He lives in a 1971 Airstream in Topanga and records in an old tool shed overlooking the canyon.
Friends Of's debut album "Contemporary Cowboys of the Canyon" is due out this fall. Recorded between Topanga Canyon, LA, and Mexico City, the album blends humor, sincerity, and heartbreak into sonic journey through disco, house, indie, and psych. Better hold on to your cowboy hats.
