Head in Space
Beaming cosmic rays from the rustic hills of Southern California, Friends of is the solo project of Topanga Canyon native Zeke Reed. A classically-trained cellist who started branching out into other genres in high school, Zeke later picked up the bass and started using Ableton while studying neuroscience and philosophy at the University of Virginia. Zeke makes what he calls "psychedelic space disco," moving bodies and transporting minds to the edges of the galaxy. His indie-inspired, dance-floor ready sound merges with his love of vintage Americana, the Southwest, the ocean, space, and meditation. He lives in a 1971 Airstream but hopes to one day settle down on a big plot of land near the Mariner Valley on Mars where he can finally don a cowboy hat atop his space helmet.
When not making music, Zeke is a audio journalist, podcaster, meditator and teacher. He loves to scuba dive, snowboard, surf, camp, travel and produce for other artists. Reach out if you want to work on something!
